Privacy policy

What we collect when you visit piqued.today, what we do with it, and the rights you have over your information.

This policy explains what we collect when you visit piqued.today, what we do with it, and the control you have over it. We try to collect as little as possible — and to tell you plainly what that little is. If you have questions, write to privacy@piqued.today.

What we collect

When you visit piqued.today, we automatically collect certain technical information about your device and your visit. This includes details about the web browser and device you're using (such as browser type and version, operating system, and general device category), your approximate location (usually only your country or region), how you arrived at the site, and which pages you look at while you're here.

If you subscribe to our newsletter, submit our contact form, or pitch us a story, we collect the information you provide — typically your name and email address, plus whatever you choose to send us.

Why we collect it

We use the technical and browser information we collect for a few narrow, practical reasons:

  • Analytics. Understanding what people read — and how they find us — so we know what to write more of.
  • Security and fraud prevention. Detecting unusual traffic patterns, blocking bots and abusive behavior, and keeping the site up and safe for everyone.
  • Site performance. Diagnosing slow pages, broken links, and layout issues across different browsers and devices.
  • Direct communication. Replying to you when you write in, or delivering the newsletter you subscribed to.

We don't use the information we collect to build advertising profiles about individual readers, and we don't sell it.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies to keep the site working smoothly and to measure traffic in aggregate. Some cookies are strictly necessary — for remembering that you've dismissed a banner, for example — and some are for analytics. You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings without losing the ability to read articles. We don't put anything important behind a cookie wall.

Third parties

We work with a small number of trusted partners for services like web hosting, content delivery, analytics, and email delivery. These partners receive only the information required to do their job, and they are contractually obligated to handle it responsibly. If our pages embed content from a third party (for example, a video or a social post), that third party may set its own cookies — we link to their policies where relevant.

How long we keep it

Analytics data is retained in an identifiable form for no longer than 14 months, after which it is aggregated or deleted. Information you submit through a form (your name, email, message) is kept for as long as we need to respond and follow up — typically no longer than 12 months after our last interaction — unless you ask us to remove it sooner.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to ask us to delete it. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@piqued.today and we'll respond within 30 days.

You can also unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.

Children

piqued.today is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please let us know and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update the date below and, where appropriate, let you know directly. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated version.
