The small team behind piqued.today
A tiny editorial group obsessed with the strange, the practical, and the things you'll want to text a friend about.
We started piqued.today in 2024 with a simple idea: there is more interesting stuff happening in the world than anyone has time to read, and most of it is buried somewhere harder to reach than it should be. Our job is to find the pieces worth your attention — the fact that makes you tilt your head, the tip you'll actually use tomorrow, the story you'll still be thinking about next week — and then get out of the way.
We're a small team on purpose. No marketing department, no SEO consultants, no growth hacks. We pay writers fairly, we check our facts, and we try to write things that we ourselves would want to read on a Tuesday night.
The people
Elena Marsh
A former neuroscience PhD candidate who gave up the lab for the library. Obsessed with sleep research, squid intelligence, and the tiny misconceptions people have about how the brain works. Writes most of our "12 facts about…" series.
Jordan Vale
Writes about the small habits, rituals, and design choices that quietly change how you live. Has strong, unsolicited opinions about kettles, morning light, and the correct way to fold a fitted sheet.
Priya Shah
Covers language, media, and why every generation thinks they invented the same jokes. Previously at a Sunday magazine you've probably heard of. Writes a lot of pieces that begin with "Actually, the real story is…"
Marco Benítez
Writes about the place where interior design and cooking meet — which, he'll tell you, is far more often than you'd think. Based in Barcelona. Keeps sourdough alive on three different continents through a network of friends.
Dana Okafor
Responsible for how the site looks and feels, including whatever typeface you're reading right now. Trained at an art school in Lagos and spent a brief, inexplicable period in print advertising before finding her way back to editorial.
Sam Lindgren
Covers places. Lived in six countries before thirty, and still can't quite commit to one. Specializes in the sort of travel article that is more about the coffee than the itinerary.
Writing for us
We work with freelance writers regularly, and we love good pitches. If you have a listicle or feature you think belongs on piqued.today, send us a short description and a few paragraphs of sample writing through our contact form. We read everything and reply to most things.
We don't have a massive newsroom, and we don't want one. Small, deliberate, and slightly opinionated feels right.
